Changes

[[Text:EBD:Father (EBD)|father]] of nobleness; i.e., "noble." (1.) A [[Text:EBD:Levite (EBD)|Levite]] of [[Text:EBD:Kirjath-jearim (EBD)|Kirjath-jearim]], in whose [[Text:EBD:House (EBD)|house]] the [[Text:EBD:Ark (EBD)|ark]] of the [[Text:EBD:Covenant (EBD)|covenant]] was deposited after having been brought back from the land of the [[Text:EBD:Philistines (EBD)|Philistines]] (1 Sam. 7:1). It remained there twenty [[Text:EBD:Year (EBD)|years]], till it was at length removed by [[Text:EBD:David (EBD)|David]] (1 Sam. 7:1,2; 1 Chr. 13:7).

(2.) The second of the eight sons of [[Text:EBD:Jesse (EBD)|Jesse]] (1 Sam. 16:8). He was with [[Text:EBD:Saul (EBD)|Saul]] in the campaign against the Philistines in which [[Text:EBD:Goliath (EBD)|Goliath]] was slain (1 Sam. 17:13).

(3.) One of Saul's sons, who perished with his father in the battle of [[Text:EBD:Gilboa|Gilboa (EBD)]] (1 Sam. 31:2; 1 Chr. 10:2).

(4.) One of [[Text:EBD:Solomon (EBD)|Solomon]]'s officers, who "provided victuals for the [[Text:EBD:King (EBD)|king]] and his household." He presided, for this purpose, over the district of [[Text:EBD:Dor (EBD)|Dor]] (1 Kings 4:11).
