(Luke 16:22,23) refers to the custom of reclining on [[Text:EBD:Couch (EBD)|couches]] at [[Text:EBD:Tables (EBD)|table]], which was prevalent among the [[Text:EBD:Jew (EBD)|Jews]], an arrangement which brought the head of one person almost into the [[Text:EBD:Bosom (EBD)|bosom]] of the one who sat or reclined above him. To "be in [[Text:EBD:Abraham (EBD)|Abraham]]'s bosom" thus meant to enjoy happiness and [[Text:EBD:Rest (EBD)|rest]] (Matt. 8:11; Luke 16:23) at the [[Text:EBD:Banquet (EBD)|banquet]] in [[Text:EBD:Paradise (EBD)|Paradise]].
