I am a United Methodist pastor educated in a Presbyterian seminary. I am a committed Wesleyan-Arminian evangelical, and like to be open and respectful to the emphases of other Christian traditions (Calvinism, Lutheranism, Anglicanism, Eastern Orthodoxy, Roman Catholicism, Baptist, whatever), hopeful that we agree on what I would call essentials (Incarnation, Trinity, Atonement, Resurrection, etc.). I joined the WikiChristian community on 23 March 2005.

"Let the same mind be in you that was in Christ Jesus,

who, though he was in the form of God, did not regard equality with God as something to be exploited,
but emptied himself,
taking the form of a slave, being born in human likeness.

And being found in human form,

he humbled himself and became obedient to the point of death —
even death on a cross.

Therefore God also highly exalted him

and gave him the name that is above every name,
so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bend,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
and every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father."
- Philippians 2:5-11

"Let us go on to perfection..."

- Hebrews 6:1

"...the love of Christ controls us, because we have concluded this:

that One has died for all, therefore all have died;
and He died for all,
that those who live might no longer live for themselves
but for Him who for their sake died and was raised."
- 2 Corinthians 5:14-15

"The best of all is,

God is with us."
- John Wesley (on his death bed)

"May 24, 1738 --

What occurred on Wednesday the 24th I think best to relate at large...

In the evening I went very unwillingly to a society in Aldersgate Street,

where one was reading Luther's preface to the Epistle to the Romans.

About a quarter to nine,

while he was describing the change which God works in the heart through faith in Christ,
I felt my heart strangely warmed.

I felt I did trust in Christ,

Christ alone for salvation;
and an assurance was given me that He had taken away my sins,
even mine,

and saved me from the law of sin and death."

- John Wesley (from his Journal)

"As to things which do not strike at the root of Christianity,

we think and let think."
- John Wesley (from The Character of a Methodist)
