USA law requires this warning to be shown on all beer, wine, spirits, etc (Alcoholic Beverage Labeling Act 1988):-
: GOVERNMENT WARNING: (1) According to the Surgeon General, women should not drink alcoholic beverages during pregnancy because of the risk of birth defects.<br>(2) Consumption of alcoholic beverages impairs your ability to drive a car or operate machinery, and may cause health problems.
Some of the countries which had notified the World Health Organization by 2016 that they have health warning labels on alcohol containers<ref>https://apps.who.int/gho/data/view.main.55920 downloaded 2023-07-21</ref> are France, Greece, India, Israel, Japan, Portugal, Republic of Korea, Russian Federation, South Africa, Türkiye, United States of America.
Readers in Canada, Ireland and the UK may be unaware of the risks.
