The role of women in the world and in the church has had a varied and sometimes controversial history. According to the book of Genesis, God created both men and women in his image. It also tells that "the woman" was created to be a helper for "the man" in story of Adam and Eve. There is a lot to be said in the Bible about people in general, as well as about women or men more specifically. Today, the role of women in the church is an important issue, with issues such as women in ministry being a current issue.
