For as I passed along, and observed the objects of your worship, I found also an altar with this inscription: 'TO AN UNKNOWN GOD.' What therefore you worship in ignorance, this I announce to you.

Hebrew כי אני עבר ומתבונן אל עבדות אלהיכם ואמצא מזבח אחד כתוב עליו לאל הנעלם ועתה את אשר עבדתם ואינכם ידעים אתו אני מגיד לכם׃
Greek διερχομενος γαρ και αναθεωρων τα σεβασματα υμων ευρον και βωμον εν ω επεγεγραπτο αγνωστω θεω ο ουν αγνοουντες ευσεβειτε τουτο εγω καταγγελλω υμιν
Latin Præteriens enim, et videns simulacra vestra, inveni et aram, in qua scriptum erat : Ignoto Deo. Quod ergo ignorantes colitis, hoc ego annuntio vobis.
KJV For as I passed by, and beheld your devotions, I found an altar with this inscription, TO THE UNKNOWN GOD. Whom therefore ye ignorantly worship, him declare I unto you.
