Hebrew כי הורדוס ירא את יוחנן בדעתו כי הוא איש צדיק וקדוש ויגן בעדו והרבה עשה בשמעו אליו ויאהב לשמע אתו׃
Greek ο γαρ ηρωδης εφοβειτο τον ιωαννην ειδως αυτον ανδρα δικαιον και αγιον και συνετηρει αυτον και ακουσας αυτου πολλα ηπορει και ηδεως αυτου ηκουεν
Latin Herodes enim metuebat Joannem, sciens eum virum justum et sanctum : et custodiebat eum, et audito eo multa faciebat, et libenter eum audiebat.
KJV For Herod feared John, knowing that he was a just man and an holy, and observed him; and when he heard him, he did many things, and heard him gladly.
