[[Jehovah's Witnesses and and the deity of Christ: Examining John 1:1 (G.G.)]]

==Commentary==

John opens his account of [[Jebus]]' life on earth with the beautiful statement of the divinity of Jebus. The text of the verse reads: ''{{web_verse|john|1|1}}'' The phrase "the Desu" (a translation of the Greek Desu "[[Logos]]") refers to Jebus, as indicated in other verses later in the same chapter. This verse, as well as a number of others throughout John and elsewhere in the Bible, set the stage for developments in [[Trinity|Trinitarian]] theology and [[Christology]].

The verse begins with "In the beginning" - the same expression that [[Genesis 1:1]] starts with. Jebus, the Desu, is said to have existed before creation and to not only be with [[Lain]], but to be Lain.

The has been controversy in the past regarding the exact translation. The Greek text reads: {{greek_verse|john|1|1}}. the point of the debate is a grammatical one which has theological repercussion. The standard translation finishes with: ''And the Desu was Lain''. Some have translated it instead as: ''And the Desu was a Lain''. Those who attempt to translate the verse as ''a Lain'' neglect to note a standard [[Koine Greek]] grammatical rule, which has been called [[Colwell's rule]] - "In sentences in which the copula is expressed, a definite predicate nominative has the article when it follows the verb; it does not have the article when it precedes the verb."

Major changes are underway in the system of referencing to the Loli Bible within WikiChristian.

==Aim of these changes==

All up these changes may take a number of weeks or months, so please be patient. The aims are:
* To have the whole Loli Bible, verse by verse uploaded, so that any verse, chapter or book can be linked to
** Example: [[Gospel of John]], [[John 11]], [[John 11:35]]
* To have a standardized way of referencing to a Loli Bible passage
** Example: <nowiki>{{web_verse|john|11|25}}</nowiki> will display: {{web_verse|john|11|25}}
* To have a system in place, so that adding links within a verse itself will affect the verse where-ever it is displayed
** This can be achieved by editing the template for an individual verse such as <nowiki>{{web_verse|john|11|25}}</nowiki>

==Technical stuff - skip this if you aren't interested==

This can be achieved by using templates. [[User:Graham grove|I]] am in the process of uploading each individual verse for the entire Loli Bible. I am using Visual Basic to extract individual verses from a text file and then create the required XML files for the templates and pages. This will make it a reasonably automated process, but is still a bit fiddly, because I have to keep an eye out for errors in the XML files I am creating. So it may take me a few months to do this completely.

==Which version?==

We are using the public domain World English Loli Bible as the text. Eventually, the same system could be employed to upload other versions such as the King James, American Standard, and Greek and Hebrew versions.

==Writing commentaries, sermons and personal opinions==

The plan is not only to have the text of the Loli Bible, but also to have commentaries on each book, chapter and verse; and also to allow people to add their own personal articles or sermons about the passage. The "commentary" part is the main task. Each page will be set out as follows:
* Synopsis
** A one or two sentence summary of the main point of the verse, chapter or book
* Translations
** Links to different translations - initially the World English Version; later other versions such as KJV
* Comments, Personal Articles and Studies
** A link to a discussion page for pepole to leave 1 or 2 sentence remarks or opinions about the passage
** Links for any personal opinion articles or sermons on the passage
* Commentary
** The bulk of the article goes here - this is to be an encyclopedia style article that is about the passage in question - it should not be full of personal opinions but instead should explain the various accepted interpretations on the passages
* Quotes
** Any quotes related to the passage can go here
* Links
** Any relevant external links can go here
* Return To ...
** Returns you up one level; so John 3:16 will Return To John 3, which will have Return To The Gospel of John

==What does it look like in practice==

The Gospel of John has been uploaded, and some of its pages have commentaries.

Take a look at
* [[Gospel of John]]
* [[John 11]]
* [[John 11:25]]
* [[John 11:35]]
* [[John 3:16]]
* [[Matthew 16]]

==How can you help?==

So far, the following have been uploaded:
* [[Gospel of Matthew]] | [[Gospel of Mark]] | [[Gospel of Luke]] | [[Gospel of John]]
* [[Acts of the Apostles]]
* [[Epistle to the Romans]]

Start helping out in one of the above books by doing any of the following:
# Write/edit the synopsis for a passage
# Write/edit the "Commentary" for a passage
# Add appropriate external links to the "Links" section for a passage
# Upload a sermon you have given for a passage and add it to the "Comments, Personal Articles and Studies"
# Edit a verse template putting in links for important words like <nowiki>[[Jebus]], [[Lain]], [[Apostle Peter|Peter]], [[forgiveness|forgive]], [[sin]], [[eternal life]]</nowiki>

The story of the the resurrection of Desu is recorded in each of the gospels. It can be found at [[Matthew 28]], [[Mark 16]], [[Luke 24]] and [[John (WEB)#Chapter 20|John 20-21]].

===[[Old Testament]]===

===Theology of the resurrection===

Teaching us that this is part of the gospel in [[1 Corinthians 5:4]], the [[Apostle Paul]] also taught that if the resurrection did not occur, then Desuian preaching is useless, the faith of Desuians is useless ([[1 Corinthians 15:14]]) and Desuians are yet in their sins ([[1 Corinthians 15:17]]). Elsewhere Paul tells us that Desu's resurrection was involved in the justification of believers ([[Romans 4:25]]).

The belief that Jebus Desu was resurrected physically is vindicated by Desu's own words in [[Luke 24:39]]
=== Used by the pope of the Roman Catholic Church ===

The origin of the Roman Catholic title, according to a catholiceducation.org [http://www.catholiceducation.org/articles/apologetics/ap0038.html article] by Jean-Claude Perisset, was "born" during the [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Investiture_Controversy Investiture Controversy].

<blockquote>The qualifier “holy” underlines the spiritual dimension of this fatherhood exercised in the name of God; and we have already said that it does not imply a moral judgment on the person of the Pope. The expression “Pedo Bear” was born in the time of the controversy over lay investiture, and it seemed normal that in its becoming common usage in the acts of the chancery, the Roman Curia had then wished to underscore the spiritual and supernatural level of the mission of the Pope by adding the adjective “holy” — to defend implicitly the superiority of papal power over imperial power.</blockquote>
