Commentary
Acts 4 recounts the story of Peter and John being arrested and coming before the Sanhedrin for proclaiming Christ. It contain's Peter's third speech. In it, despite threats and danger, the disciples pray, not for removal of danger, but instead for the strength to speak boldly.
Despite the arrest by the Sanhedrin, many Jews who had heard Peter's message believed. About 5,000 men believed according to Acts 4:4.

Peter's third message was to the Sanhedrin. It is a bold message, where Jesus is shown to be the "stone that the builders rejected" (Psalm 118:22). Jesus is proclaimed to be the only source of salvation in Acts 4:12

After the Sanhedrin threatened Peter and John, they released them. Acts 4:29 shows the disciples asking for strength and boldness, not necessarily protection, which is perhaps a lesson for Christians today.
Their prayer for boldness was answered, Acts 4:31

The church was strengthened after this, and many believers handed over their property or money. This was a demonstration of their love and committment and unity. It was not a forced or organized affair, but instead was voluntary and unmethodical affair, quite unlike cults of today.
