(Luke 16:22,23) refers to the custom of reclining on [[Text:EBD:Couch|couches ]] at [[Text:EBD:Tables|table]], which was prevalent among the [[Text:EBD:Jew|Jews]], an arrangement which brought the head of one person almost into the [[Text:EBD:Bosom|bosom ]] of the one who sat or reclined above him. To "be in [[Text:EBD:Abraham|Abraham]]'s bosom" thus meant to enjoy happiness and [[Text:EBD:Rest|rest ]] (Matt. 8:11; Luke 16:23) at the [[Text:EBD:Banquet|banquet ]] in [[Text:EBD:Paradise|Paradise]].
