Divorce, or the dissolution of a marriage, is common throughout the world today, as it was also in the ancient world. Jesus however forbade it by explaining that God had joins a man and a woman in marriage so that they become as one person. Today the issue of divorce is a difficult one for the church in terms of how to remain loving to Christians who decide to divorce but at the same time remain faithful to the teachings of Jesus.
