Synopsis: The gospel according to John is the fourth book of the New Testament and it gives an account of Jesus' life, death and resurrection so that the reader or hearer may "believe that Jesus is the Son of God".

The gospel according to John is the fourth book of the New Testament. It was probably the fourth of the accounts of the Jesus' life to be written. The apostle John was probably the author and he is referred to throughout the book as the disciple Jesus loved.
