  1. After this it happened, that David struck the Philistines, and subdued them, and took Gath and its towns out of the hand of the Philistines.
  2. He struck Moab; and the Moabites became servants to David, and brought tribute.
  3. David struck Hadadezer king of Zobah to Hamath, as he went to establish his dominion by the river Euphrates.
  4. David took from him one thousand chariots, and seven thousand horsemen, and twenty thousand footmen; and David hamstrung all the chariot horses, but reserved of them for one hundred chariots.
  5. When the Syrians of Damascus came to help Hadadezer king of Zobah, David struck of the Syrians twenty-two thousand men.
  6. Then David put [garrisons] in Syria of Damascus; and the Syrians became servants to David, and brought tribute. Yahweh gave victory to David wherever he went.
  7. David took the shields of gold that were on the servants of Hadadezer, and brought them to Jerusalem.
  8. From Tibhath and from Cun, cities of Hadadezer, David took very much brass, with which Solomon made the bronze sea, and the pillars, and the vessels of brass.
  9. When Tou king of Hamath heard that David had struck all the army of Hadadezer king of Zobah,
  10. he sent Hadoram his son to king David, to Greet him, and to bless him, because he had fought against Hadadezer and struck him; (for Hadadezer had wars with Tou;) and [he had with him] all kinds of vessels of gold and silver and brass.
  11. These also did king David dedicate to Yahweh, with the silver and the gold that he carried away from all the nations; from Edom, and from Moab, and from the children of Ammon, and from the Philistines, and from Amalek.
  12. Moreover Abishai the son of Zeruiah struck of the Edomites in the Valley of Salt eighteen thousand.
  13. He put garrisons in Edom; and all the Edomites became servants to David. Yahweh gave victory to David wherever he went.
  14. David reigned over all Israel; and he executed justice and righteousness to all his people.
  15. Joab the son of Zeruiah was over the army; and Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud was recorder;
  16. and Zadok the son of Ahitub, and Abimelech the son of Abiathar, were priests; and Shavsha was scribe;
  17. and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over the Cherethites and the Pelethites; and the sons of David were chief about the king.

  1. ויהי אחרי־כן ויך דויד את־פלשתים ויכניעם ויקח את־גת ובנתיה מיד פלשתים׃
  2. ויך את־מואב ויהיו מואב עבדים לדויד נשאי מנחה׃
  3. ויך דויד את־הדדעזר מלך־צובה חמתה בלכתו להציב ידו בנהר־פרת׃
  4. וילכד דויד ממנו אלף רכב ושבעת אלפים פרשים ועשרים אלף איש רגלי ויעקר דויד את־כל־הרכב ויותר ממנו מאה רכב׃
  5. ויבא ארם דרמשק לעזור להדדעזר מלך צובה ויך דויד בארם עשרים־ושנים אלף איש׃
  6. וישם דויד בארם דרמשק ויהי ארם לדויד עבדים נשאי מנחה ויושע יהוה לדויד בכל אשר הלך׃
  7. ויקח דויד את שלטי הזהב אשר היו על עבדי הדדעזר ויביאם ירושלם׃
  8. ומטבחת ומכון ערי הדדעזר לקח דויד נחשת רבה מאד בה עשה שלמה את־ים הנחשת ואת־העמודים ואת כלי הנחשת׃ ף
  9. וישמע תעו מלך חמת כי הכה דויד את־כל־חיל הדדעזר מלך־צובה׃
  10. וישלח את־הדורם־בנו אל־המלך־דויד ־לו לשלום ולברכו על אשר נלחם בהדדעזר ויכהו כי־איש מלחמות תעו היה הדדעזר וכל כלי זהב וכסף ונחשת׃
  11. גם־אתם הקדיש המלך דויד ליהוה עם־הכסף והזהב אשר נשא מכל־הגוים מאדום וממואב ומבני עמון ומפלשתים ומעמלק׃
  12. ואבשי בן־צרויה הכה את־אדום בגיא המלח שמונה עשר אלף׃
  13. וישם באדום נציבים ויהיו כל־אדום עבדים לדויד ויושע יהוה את־דויד בכל אשר הלך׃
  14. וימלך דויד על־כל־ישראל ויהי עשה משפט וצדקה לכל־עמו׃
  15. ויואב בן־צרויה על־הצבא ויהושפט בן־אחילוד מזכיר׃
  16. וצדוק בן־אחיטוב ואבימלך בן־אביתר כהנים ושושא סופר׃
  17. ובניהו בן־יהוידע על־הכרתי והפלתי ובני־דויד הראשנים ליד המלך׃ ף

  1. και εγενετο μετα ταυτα και επαταξεν δαυιδ τους αλλοφυλους και ετροπωσατο αυτους και ελαβεν την γεθ και τας κωμας αυτης εκ χειρος
  2. και επαταξεν την μωαβ και ησαν μωαβ παιδες τω δαυιδ φεροντες
  3. και επαταξεν δαυιδ τον αδρααζαρ βασιλεα σουβα ημαθ πορευομενου αυτου επιστησαι χειρα αυτου επι ποταμον
  4. και προκατελαβετο δαυιδ αυτων χιλια αρματα και επτα χιλιαδας ιππων και εικοσι χιλιαδας ανδρων πεζων και παρελυσεν δαυιδ παντα τα αρματα και υπελιπετο εξ αυτων εκατον
  5. και ηλθεν συρος εκ δαμασκου βοηθησαι αδρααζαρ βασιλει σουβα και επαταξεν δαυιδ εν τω συρω εικοσι και δυο χιλιαδας
  6. και εθετο δαυιδ φρουραν εν συρια τη κατα δαμασκον και ησαν τω δαυιδ εις παιδας φεροντας δωρα και εσωζεν κυριος τον δαυιδ εν πασιν οις
  7. και ελαβεν δαυιδ τους κλοιους τους χρυσους οι ησαν επι τους παιδας αδρααζαρ και ηνεγκεν αυτους εις
  8. και εκ της μεταβηχας και εκ των εκλεκτων πολεων των αδρααζαρ ελαβεν δαυιδ χαλκον πολυν σφοδρα εξ αυτου εποιησεν σαλωμων την θαλασσαν την χαλκην και τους στυλους και τα σκευη τα
  9. και ηκουσεν θωα βασιλευς ημαθ οτι επαταξεν δαυιδ την πασαν δυναμιν αδρααζαρ βασιλεως
  10. και απεστειλεν τον ιδουραμ υιον αυτου προς τον βασιλεα δαυιδ του ερωτησαι αυτον τα εις ειρηνην και του ευλογησαι αυτον υπερ ου επολεμησεν τον αδρααζαρ και επαταξεν αυτον οτι ανηρ πολεμιος θωα ην τω αδρααζαρ και παντα τα σκευη αργυρα και
  11. και ταυτα ηγιασεν δαυιδ τω κυριω μετα του αργυριου και του χρυσιου ου ελαβεν εκ παντων των εθνων εξ ιδουμαιας και μωαβ και εξ υιων αμμων και εκ των αλλοφυλων και εξ
  12. και αβεσσα υιος σαρουια επαταξεν την ιδουμαιαν εν κοιλαδι των αλων οκτω και δεκα
  13. και εθετο εν τη κοιλαδι φρουρας και ησαν παντες οι ιδουμαιοι παιδες δαυιδ και εσωζεν κυριος τον δαυιδ εν πασιν οις
  14. και εβασιλευσεν δαυιδ επι παντα ισραηλ και ην ποιων κριμα και δικαιοσυνην τω παντι λαω
  15. και ιωαβ υιος σαρουια επι της στρατιας και ιωσαφατ υιος αχιλουδ
  16. και σαδωκ υιος αχιτωβ και αχιμελεχ υιος αβιαθαρ ιερεις και σουσα

  1. Factum est autem post hæc, ut percuteret David Philisthiim, et humiliaret eos, et tolleret Geth, et filias ejus de manu Philisthiim,
  2. percuteretque Moab, et fierent Moabitæ servi David, offerentes ei munera.
  3. Eo tempore percussit David etiam Adarezer regem Soba regionis Hemath, quando perrexit ut dilataret imperium suum usque ad flumen Euphraten.
  4. Cepit ergo David mille quadrigas ejus, et septem millia equitum, ac viginti millia virorum peditum, subnervavitque omnes equos curruum, exceptis centum quadrigis, quas reservavit sibi.
  5. Supervenit autem et Syrus Damascenus, ut auxilium præberet Adarezer regi Soba : sed et hujus percussit David viginti duo millia virorum.
  6. Et posuit milites in Damasco, ut Syria quoque serviret sibi, et offerret munera. Adjuvitque eum Dominus in cunctis, ad quæ perrexerat.
  7. Tulit quoque David pharetras aureas, quas habuerant servi Adarezer, et attulit eas in Jerusalem.
  8. Necnon de Thebath et Chun, urbibus Adarezer æris plurimum, de quo fecit Salomon mare æneum, et columnas, et vasa ænea.
  9. Quod cum audisset Thou rex Hemath, percussisse videlicet David omnem exercitum Adarezer regis Soba,
  10. misit Adoram filium suum ad regem David, ut postularet ab eo pacem, et congratularetur ei quod percussisset, et expugnasset Adarezer : adversarius quippe erat Thou Adarezer.
  11. Sed et omnia vasa aurea, et argentea, et ænea consecravit David rex Domino, cum argento et auro, quod tulerat ex universis gentibus, tam de Idumæa, et Moab, et filiis Ammon, quam de Philisthiim et Amalec.
  12. Abisai vero filius Sarviæ percussit Edom in valle Salinarum, decem et octo millia :
  13. et constituit in Edom præsidium, ut serviret Idumæa David : salvavitque Dominus David in cunctis, ad quæ perrexerat.
  14. Regnavit ergo David super universum Israël, et faciebat judicium atque justitiam cuncto populo suo.
  15. Porro Joab filius Sarviæ erat super exercitum, et Josaphat filius Ahilud a commentariis.
  16. Sadoc autem filius Achitob, et Ahimelech filius Abiathar, sacerdotes : et Susa, scriba.
  17. Banaias quoque filius Jojadæ super legiones Cerethi, et Phelethi : porro filii David, primi ad manum regis.

  2. And he smote Moab; and the Moabites became David's servants, and brought gifts.
  3. And David smote Hadarezer king of Zobah unto Hamath, as he went to stablish his dominion by the river Euphrates.
  4. And David took from him a thousand chariots, and seven thousand horsemen, and twenty thousand footmen: David also houghed all the chariot horses, but reserved of them an hundred chariots.
  5. And when the Syrians of Damascus came to help Hadarezer king of Zobah, David slew of the Syrians two and twenty thousand men.
  6. Then David put garrisons in Syria-damascus; and the Syrians became David's servants, and brought gifts. Thus the LORD preserved David whithersoever he went.
  7. And David took the shields of gold that were on the servants of Hadarezer, and brought them to Jerusalem.
  8. Likewise from Tibhath, and from Chun, cities of Hadarezer, brought David very much brass, wherewith Solomon made the brasen sea, and the pillars, and the vessels of brass.
  9. Now when Tou king of Hamath heard how David had smitten all the host of Hadarezer king of Zobah;
  10. He sent Hadoram his son to king David, to inquire of his welfare, and to congratulate him, because he had fought against Hadarezer, and smitten him; (for Hadarezer had war with Tou;) and with him all manner of vessels of gold and silver and brass.
  11. Them also king David dedicated unto the LORD, with the silver and the gold that he brought from all these nations; from Edom, and from Moab, and from the children of Ammon, and from the Philistines, and from Amalek.
  12. Moreover Abishai the son of Zeruiah slew of the Edomites in the valley of salt eighteen thousand.
