Apocryphal literature are texts of the Jewish and Christian traditions whose canonicity is disputed. That is, they are books that are not accepted as part of the [[Bible]] by some denominations, but are considered as part of the Bible by other denominations. For example, Protestant churches count 39 books of the [[Old Testament]] and 27 books of the [[New Testament]] making a total of 66 books. [[Roman Catholicism]] adds in an additional 15 books, making a total of 81.
