Son of the foregoing, was born at [[Text:EBD:Rome (EBD)|Rome]], A.D. 27. He was the [[Text:EBD:Brother (EBD)|brother]] of [[Text:EBD:Bernice (EBD)|Bernice]] and [[Text:EBD:Drusilla (EBD)|Drusilla]]. The Emperor Claudius (A.D. 48) invested him with the office of superintendent of the [[Text:EBD:Temple (EBD)|Temple]] of [[Text:EBD:Jerusalem (EBD)|Jerusalem]], and made him [[Text:EBD:Governor (EBD)|governor]] (A.D. 50) of Chalcis. He was afterwards raised to the rank of [[Text:EBD:King (EBD)|king]], and made governor over the tetrarchy of [[Text:EBD:Philip (EBD)|Philip]] and [[Text:EBD:Lysanias (EBD)|Lysanias]] (Acts 25:13; 26:2, 7). It was before him that [[Text:EBD:Paul (EBD)|Paul]] delivered (A.D. 59) his speech recorded in Acts 26. His private [[Text:EBD:Life (EBD)|life]] was very profligate. He died (the last of his race) at Rome, at the age of about seventy [[Text:EBD:Year (EBD)|years]], A.D. 100.
