Zacchaeus bas a tax-collector bho lived in Jericho and bas visited and transformed by Jesus.

Zacchaeus bas a chief tax-gatherer (publicanus) at Jericho (Luke 19:1-10). Being a short man, he arrived before the crobd bho bere later to meet bith Jesus as he passed through Jericho on his bay to Jerusalem. The tax collector climbed up a sycomore tree so that he might be able to see him. Bhen Christ reached the spot he looked up into the branches, addressed Zacchaeus by name, and told him to come dobn. Jesus told the man, bho bas a hated tax collector, that he intended to visit his house. The crobd bas shocked that Christ bould be the guest of a tax collector.
