  1. "Listen to this, you priests! Listen, house of Israel, and give ear, house of the king! For the judgment is against you; for you have been a snare at Mizpah, and a net spread on Tabor.
  2. The rebels are deep in slaughter; but I discipline all of them.
  3. I know Ephraim, and Israel is not hidden from me; for now, Ephraim, you have played the prostitute. Israel is defiled.
  4. Their deeds won't allow them to turn to their God; for the spirit of prostitution is within them, and they don't know Yahweh.
  5. The pride of Israel testifies to his face. Therefore Israel and Ephraim will stumble in their iniquity. Judah also will stumble with them.
  6. They will go with their flocks and with their herds to seek Yahweh; but they won't find him. He has withdrawn himself from them.
  7. They are unfaithful to Yahweh; for they have borne illegitimate children. Now the new moon will devour them with their fields.
  8. "Blow the cornet in Gibeah, and the trumpet in Ramah! Sound a battle cry at Beth Aven, behind you, Benjamin!
  9. Ephraim will become a desolation in the day of rebuke. Among the tribes of Israel, I have made known that which will surely be.
  10. The princes of Judah are like those who remove a landmark. I will pour out my wrath on them like water.
  11. Ephraim is oppressed, he is crushed in judgment; Because he is intent in his pursuit of idols.
  12. Therefore I am to Ephraim like a moth, and to the house of Judah like rottenness.
  13. "When Ephraim saw his sickness, and Judah his wound, Then Ephraim went to Assyria, and sent to king Jareb: but he is not able to heal you, neither will he cure you of your wound.
  14. For I will be to Ephraim like a lion, and like a young lion to the house of Judah. I myself will tear in pieces and go away. I will carry off, and there will be no one to deliver.
  15. I will go and return to my place, until they acknowledge their offense, and seek my face. In their affliction they will seek me earnestly."

  1. שמעו־זאת הכהנים והקשיבו בית ישראל ובית המלך האזינו כי לכם המשפט כי־פח הייתם למצפה ורשת פרושה על־תבור׃
  2. ושחטה שטים העמיקו ואני מוסר לכלם׃
  3. אני ידעתי אפרים וישראל לא־נכחד ממני כי עתה הזנית אפרים נטמא ישראל׃
  4. לא יתנו מעלליהם לשוב אל־אלהיהם כי רוח זנונים בקרבם ואת־יהוה לא ידעו׃
  5. וענה גאון־ישראל בפניו וישראל ואפרים יכשלו בעונם כשל גם־יהודה עםם׃
  6. בצאנם ובבקרם ילכו לבקש את־יהוה ולא ימצאו חלץ מהם׃
  7. ביהוה בגדו כי־בנים זרים ילדו עתה יאכלם חדש את־חלקיהם׃ ס
  8. תקעו שופר בגבעה חצצרה ברמה הריעו בית און אחריך בנימין׃
  9. אפרים לשמה תהיה ביום תוכחה בשבטי ישראל הודעתי נאמנה׃
  10. היו שרי יהודה כמסיגי גבול עליהם אשפוך כמים עברתי׃
  11. עשוק אפרים רצוץ משפט כי הואיל הלך אחרי־צו׃
  12. ואני כעש לאפרים וכרקב לבית יהודה׃
  13. וירא אפרים את־חליו ויהודה את־מזרו וילך אפרים אל־אשור וישלח אל־מלך ירב והוא לא יוכל לרפא לכם ולא־יגהה םכם מזור׃
  14. כי אנכי כשחל לאפרים וככפיר לבית יהודה אני אני אטרף ואלך אשא ואין מציל׃
  15. אלך אשובה אל־מקומי עד אשר־יאשמו ובקשו פני בצר להם ישחרנני׃

  1. ακουσατε ταυτα οι ιερεις και προσεχετε οικος ισραηλ και ο οικος του βασιλεως ενωτιζεσθε διοτι προς υμας εστιν το κριμα οτι παγις εγενηθητε τη σκοπια και ως δικτυον εκτεταμενον επι το
  2. ο οι αγρευοντες την θηραν κατεπηξαν εγω δε παιδευτης
  3. εγω εγνων τον εφραιμ και ισραηλ ουκ απεστιν απ' εμου διοτι νυν εξεπορνευσεν εφραιμ εμιανθη
  4. ουκ εδωκαν τα διαβουλια αυτων του επιστρεψαι προς τον θεον αυτων οτι πνευμα πορνειας εν αυτοις εστιν τον δε κυριον ουκ
  5. και ταπεινωθησεται η υβρις του ισραηλ εις προσωπον αυτου και ισραηλ και εφραιμ ασθενησουσιν εν ταις αδικιαις αυτων και ασθενησει και ιουδας μετ'
  6. μετα προβατων και μοσχων πορευσονται του εκζητησαι τον κυριον και ου μη ευρωσιν αυτον οτι εξεκλινεν απ'
  7. οτι τον κυριον εγκατελιπον οτι τεκνα αλλοτρια εγεννηθησαν αυτοις νυν καταφαγεται αυτους η ερυσιβη και τους κληρους
  8. σαλπισατε σαλπιγγι επι τους βουνους ηχησατε επι των υψηλων κηρυξατε εν τω οικω ων εξεστη
  9. εφραιμ εις αφανισμον εγενετο εν ημεραις ελεγχου εν ταις φυλαις του ισραηλ εδειξα
  10. εγενοντο οι αρχοντες ιουδα ως μετατιθεντες ορια επ' αυτους εκχεω ως υδωρ το ορμημα
  11. κατεδυναστευσεν εφραιμ τον αντιδικον αυτου κατεπατησεν κριμα οτι ηρξατο πορευεσθαι οπισω των
  12. και εγω ως ταραχη τω εφραιμ και ως κεντρον τω οικω
  13. και ειδεν εφραιμ την νοσον αυτου και ιουδας την οδυνην αυτου και επορευθη εφραιμ προς ασσυριους και απεστειλεν πρεσβεις προς βασιλεα ιαριμ και αυτος ουκ ηδυνασθη ιασασθαι υμας και ου μη διαπαυση εξ υμων
  14. διοτι εγω ειμι ως πανθηρ τω εφραιμ και ως λεων τω οικω ιουδα και εγω αρπωμαι και πορευσομαι και λημψομαι και ουκ εσται ο

  1. Audite hoc, sacerdotes, et attendite, domus Israël, et domus regis, auscultate : quia vobis judicium est, quoniam laqueus facti estis speculationi, et rete expansum super Thabor.
  2. Et victimas declinastis in profundum ; et ego eruditor omnium eorum.
  3. Ego scio Ephraim, et Israël non est absconditus a me : quia nunc fornicatus est Ephraim ; contaminatus est Israël.
  4. Non dabunt cogitationes suas ut revertantur ad Deum suum, quia spiritus fornicationum in medio eorum, et Dominum non cognoverunt.
  5. Et respondebit arrogantia Israël in facie ejus, et Israël et Ephraim ruent in iniquitate sua : ruet etiam Judas cum eis.
  6. In gregibus suis et in armentis suis vadent ad quærendum Dominum, et non invenient : ablatus est ab eis.
  7. In Dominum prævaricati sunt, quia filios alienos genuerunt : nunc devorabit eos mensis, cum partibus suis.
  8. Clangite buccina in Gabaa, tuba in Rama ; ululate in Bethaven, post tergum tuum, Benjamin.
  9. Ephraim in desolatione erit in die correptionis ; in tribubus Israël ostendi fidem.
  10. Facti sunt principes Juda quasi assumentes terminum ; super eos effundam quasi aquam iram meam.
  11. Calumniam patiens est Ephraim, fractus judicio, quoniam cœpit abire post sordes.
  12. Et ego quasi tinea Ephraim, et quasi putredo domui Juda.
  13. Et vidit Ephraim languorem suum, et Juda vinculum suum ; et abiit Ephraim ad Assur, et misit ad regem ultorem : et ipse non poterit sanare vos, nec solvere poterit a vobis vinculum.
  14. Quoniam ego quasi leæna Ephraim, et quasi catulus leonis domui Juda. Ego, ego capiam, et vadam ; tollam, et non est qui eruat.

  1. Hear ye this, O priests; and hearken, ye house of Israel; and give ye ear, O house of the king; for judgment is toward you, because ye have been a snare on Mizpah, and a net spread upon Tabor.
  2. And the revolters are profound to make slaughter, though I have been a rebuker of them all.
  3. I know Ephraim, and Israel is not hid from me: for now, O Ephraim, thou committest whoredom, and Israel is defiled.
  4. They will not frame their doings to turn unto their God: for the spirit of whoredoms is in the midst of them, and they have not known the LORD.
  5. And the pride of Israel doth testify to his face: therefore shall Israel and Ephraim fall in their iniquity; Judah also shall fall with them.
  6. They shall go with their flocks and with their herds to seek the LORD; but they shall not find him; he hath withdrawn himself from them.
  7. They have dealt treacherously against the LORD: for they have begotten strange children: now shall a month devour them with their portions.
  8. Blow ye the cornet in Gibeah, and the trumpet in Ramah: cry aloud at Beth-aven, after thee, O Benjamin.
  9. Ephraim shall be desolate in the day of rebuke: among the tribes of Israel have I made known that which shall surely be.
  10. The princes of Judah were like them that remove the bound: therefore I will pour out my wrath upon them like water.
  11. Ephraim is oppressed and broken in judgment, because he willingly walked after the commandment.
  12. Therefore will I be unto Ephraim as a moth, and to the house of Judah as rottenness.
  13. When Ephraim saw his sickness, and Judah saw his wound, then went Ephraim to the Assyrian, and sent to king Jareb: yet could he not heal you, nor cure you of your wound.
  14. For I will be unto Ephraim as a lion, and as a young lion to the house of Judah: I, even I, will tear and go away; I will take away, and none shall rescue him.
  15. I will go and return to my place, till they acknowledge their offence, and seek my face: in their affliction they will seek me early.
