Christianity is the world's most widely practiced religion encompassing a rich diversity of traditions and although it has many denominations and great diversityexpressions. Despite denominational differences, all Christians are united in their faith in Jesus Christ, the Son of God and the Saviour of the world. At the its heart of , Christianity is not merely a loving creator moral system or a cultural tradition, but a living relationship with the Triune God who is also our redeemer, revealed supremely in the person and work of Jesus Christ.
Etymology
The name "term Christianity" comes is derived from the Greek word ChristosChrist (Χριστός), meaning "annointed"“Anointed One, a reference to ” which is the equivalent of the Hebrew Messiah (מָשִׁיחַ). Christians are thus those who follow Jesus, the Christ. The word "Christian" doesn't appear in the entire Bible until the book of Acts.
Essence of Christianity
Christianity is about fundamentally the story of God’s initiative to reconcile fallen humanity to Himself. God reaching out his hand in friendship to mankind. Christians believe that created the whole world and everything in it was created by God(Genesis 1:1). God is a personal being, holy, and by some mystery that we cannot understandloving Creator, he is eternally existing as one God in three, yet one: persons - Father, Son , and Spirit (see the 28:19). He created people in his image, to love him. Yet every person has rebelled against God. Yet instead of turning his back on us, God became a man, Jesus, who was born about 4 BC and lived among us. He taught a message of love throughout Palestine but public opinion turned against him and he was executed as a young man. He died because of us - the death that we should have died. He was crucified on a cross, but he rose from the dead, and now calls us to trust him, to love him and to repent of our rebellion. If we do this, then we our relationship with God becomes restored and we will live forever with God.
Many non-Christians may think that being a Christian Humanity was created in God's image (Genesis 1:27) to live under his rule in relationship with Him. However, through sin and rebellion, humanity has turned away from God (Romans 3:23). The result of sin is about belonging to spiritual death and separation from Him (Isaiah 59:2). Yet God, in His mercy, did not abandon His creation. Instead, He entered the world in the person of Jesus Christ, fully God and fully man (John 1:1 and John 1:14). Jesus lived a particular sinless life, proclaimed the good news of the churchKingdom of God or following , and willingly laid down His life on the cross as a certain set substitutionary sacrifice for sinners (1 Peter 3:18). On the third day, Jesus rose bodily from the dead (Luke 24:6) demonstrating His victory over sin and death and confirming His divine identity. Jesus calls all people to repent of ruletheir sin, trust in Him for salvation, and follow Him as Lord (Mark 1:15 and Romans 10:9). Most Christians however would agree Through faith in Jesus, believers are justified, that at its rootis, being declared righteous before God, and not by works, but by grace alone (Ephesians 2:8-9). To be a Christian means , then, is not merely to adhere to a moral code or belong to a religious institution, but to be in a living relationship with born again by the Holy Spirit (John 3:3), adopted into God's family, and transformed by the ongoing work of grace. To be Christian is to know and walk with Jesus Christ]]as Savior, Lord, and Friend.

However, the Bible also makes clear that the every person has rebelled against God and sins. In the Book of Romans it says that "all have sinned". Later however, the author goes on to tell us that we can be forgiven and appear without sin before God, and that this is through the faith in Jesus and his death and resurrection.

The Christian Life
The Christian life is one of ongoing discipleship, growing in holiness, love, and obedience through the work of the Holy Spirit. Believers are called to love God with all their heart, soul, mind, and strength, and to love their neighbours as themselves (Matthew 22:37–39).

Christians are also called to engage in mission, proclaiming the gospel to every nation (Acts 1:8).

This calling is not only the task of clergy or missionaries but the calling of every follower of Jesus. As salt and light (Matthew 5:13–16), Christians are to reflect God’s character in every sphere of life, including work, family, politics, and the arts.
