When link building you want to have the websites link to you from webpages at the site that is linking to you that have the highest Google PageRank if they are gracious enough to do so or it makes sense for them to do so to help offer quality and relevant material on a particular webpage of their website (see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PageRank ). Various types of websites to get links from:
1. Get links from the top Google ranked websites for your search term or similar search terms
2. Post links at topic related forums.
