"Justification by faith alone" is the teaching that a person is justified (that is, made right with God) through his faith only and not on the basis of good works.
All Christians agree that a person is justified by faith. The teaching that a person is justified by faith alone however is a specific [[Protestant]] teaching and was one of the key issues that lead to the [[Reformation]]. The doctrine is sometimes referrred to as "Sole Fide" which is [[Latin]] for "faith alone". Although Protestant churches teach that good works are not required for a sinner's justification, they do teach that justification by faith will always be accompanied by good works.
