The origin of The House of God Which is the Church of the Living God, the Pillar and Ground of the Truth Without Controversy, Inc. can be traced to the dream of one, [[Mother Mary Magdalena Lewis Tate|Mother Mary Magdalena L. Tate]], a unique black woman in American church history.
Being poor, she suffered many hardships to become the Founder and first Chief Overseer of The House of God Church. In 1903, she established the Church with her two sons, [[Walter Curtis Lewis]] and [[Felix Early Lewis]] as co-laborers.
