One of the most famous records of the teaching of Jesus is found in the [[Gospel of Matthew]] and is known as the [[Sermon on the Mount]]. In this discourse, Jesus taught his followers the ethics that those who have received God's mercy and grace will live by. Calling his followers to "Be perfect as your heavenly Father is perfect" ([[Matthew 5:48]]) Jesus asked them to love not only their friends, but also their enemies, to repay evil with good, and to not seek material wealth but to trust God.
