Hurricane Katrina has caused enormous suffering and damage unseen in the history of the United States in recent times. We have all seen the pictures and videos of the disperate situation that the people of this region found themselves in suddenly as they lost some of their loved ones and everything they had in material possesion. The whole city of New Orleans is being evacuated since it is no longer inhabitable until the water recedes and the city cleaned up. It is hard to imagine a disaster of this proportion in the United States that has virtually overpowered all the emergency management teams. The people taking care of the elderly in a Nursing home had abandoned them running for their own lives leading to the death of all the elderly people in that nursing home.

At wikichristian, we stand together with all the people affected and pray that the Lord would give them hope and a future. The most depressing situation a human being could be in is a situation of hopelessness and we pray that none of the victims would feel hopeless since we have a God who promises a hope and a future. This is an opportunity for us to stand together with those affected and help in rebuilding. All wikichristians should stand together and pray for the lives and souls of these brothers and sisters in their hour of need so that the Lord would show them the love and the compassion they need and offer them the hope that we have in Him. Let us donate as much as we can in helping those affected by this disaster by donating to any of the following relief organizations.

==Relief Efforts==
* The [[Salvation Army]] immediately turned its efforts to providing food and shelter where it could.

* [[Operation Compassion]] - [http://www.winningwalk.org Winningwalk.org] is a ministry operated by Dr. Ed Young involved in feeding and other relief efforts for those affected by the hurricane Katrina.
