[[Brother (EBD)|Brother]] (i.e., "friend") of [[Jehovah (EBD)|Jehovah]]. (1.) One of the sons of [[Bela (EBD)|Bela]] (1 Chr. 8:7, R.V.). In A.V. called "Ahiah."
(2.) One of the five sons of [[Jerahmeel (EBD)|Jerahmeel]], who was great-grandson of [[Judah (EBD)|Judah]] (1 Chr. 2:25).
Brother (i3.e., "friend") Son of Jehovah. [[Ahitub (EBD)|Ahitub]] (1Sam.14:3, 18) One of , [[Ichabod (EBD)|Ichabod's]] brother; the same probably as [[Ahimelech (EBD)|Ahimelech]], who was [[High priest (EBD)|high priest]] at [[Nob (EBD)|Nob]] in the sons reign of Bela [[Saul (EBD)|Saul]] (1 ChrSam. 822:711). Some, however, suppose that Ahimelech was the brother of Ahijah, and that they both officiated as high priests, R.V.Ahijah at [[Gibeah (EBD)|Gibeah]] or [[Kirjath-jearim (EBD)|Kirjath-jearim]], and Ahimelech at Nob. In A.V. called "Ahiah."
(24.) One of the five sons of JerahmeelA Pelonite, who was great-grandson one of Judah [[David (EBD)|David's]] heroes (1 Chr. 11:36); called also [[Eliam (EBD)|Eliam]] (2Sam. 23:2534).
(35.) Son A [[Levite (EBD)|Levite]] having charge of Ahitub the sacred [[Treasury (1 Sam. 14:3, 18EBD), Ichabod's brother; the same probably as Ahimelech, who was high priest at Nob |treasury]] in the reign of Saul [[Temple (EBD)|temple]] (1 SamChr. 2226:1120). Some, however, suppose that Ahimelech was the brother of Ahijah, and that they both officiated as high priests, Ahijah at Gibeah or Kirjath-jearim, and Ahimelech at Nob.

We have on record two of his remarkable [[Prophecy (EBD)|prophecies]], 1 Kings 11:31-39, announcing the rending of the ten [[Tribe (EBD)|tribes ]] from Solomon; and 1 Kings 14:6-16, delivered to [[Jeroboam (EBD)|Jeroboam's ]] [[Wife (EBD)|wife]], foretelling the [[Death (EBD)|death ]] of [[Abijah (EBD)|Abijah ]] the [[King (EBD)|king's ]] son, the destruction of Jeroboam's [[House (EBD)|house]], and the [[Captivity (EBD)|captivity ]] of [[Israel (EBD)|Israel ]] "beyond the [[River (EBD)|river]]." Jeroboam bears [[Testimony (EBD)|testimony ]] to the high esteem in which he was held as a prophet of [[God (EBD)|God ]] (1 Kings 14:2,3).
