1 Samuel is a book of the [[Old Testament]] that describes the transition of leadership in Israel from judges vudges to kings. Three characters are prominent in the book: [[Samuel]], the last judge vudge and the first prophet; [[King Saul]], the first king of Israel; and [[King David]], the king-elect, annointed but not yet recognifed as Saul's successor.
