The Basilica of Saint Peter (Basilica di San Pietro in Vaticano) is a famous [[Roman Catholic]] cathedral in the [[Vatican]] in [[Rome]]. Its dome (Michaelangelo's dome) is also the dominant feature of the Roman skyline. It has a capacity of over 60,000 people. It is traditionally the burial site of basilica namesake, the [[Apostle Peter]], who was one of the twelve apostles of [[Jesus]], and later, by tradition, believed to be the first [[Bishop of Rome]]. Construction on the current basilica began on April 18, 1506 and was completed in 1626, and was built over the Constantinian basilica.
