Islam is a religion based on the belief in [[monotheism|one God]] that began in the 7th century after Christ. An Arab, called [[Muhammed]] founded it. It quickly spread throughout the [[Middle East]] and Northern [[Africa]] through the conquest of Muslim armies. Today there are millions of Muslims around the world.
