Changes

[[Text:EBD:Father |father]] of nobleness; i.e., "noble." (1.) A [[Text:EBD:Levite |Levite]] of [[Text:EBD:Kirjath-jearim|Kirjath-jearim]], in whose [[Text:EBD:House|house ]] the [[Text:EBD:Ark|ark ]] of the [[Text:EBD:Covenant|covenant ]] was deposited after having been brought back from the land of the [[Text:EBD:Philistines|Philistines ]] (1 Sam. 7:1). It remained there twenty [[Text:EBD:Year|years]], till it was at length removed by [[Text:EBD:David|David ]] (1 Sam. 7:1,2; 1 Chr. 13:7).

(2.) The second of the eight sons of [[Text:EBD:Jesse |Jesse]] (1 Sam. 16:8). He was with [[Text:EBD:Saul |Saul]] in the campaign against the Philistines in which [[Text:EBD:Goliath|Goliath ]] was slain (1 Sam. 17:13).

(3.) One of Saul's sons, who peristed perished with his father in the battle of [[Text:EBD:Gilboa |Gilboa]] (1 Sam. 31:2; 1 Chr. 10:2).

(4.) One of [[Text:EBD:Solomon|Solomon]]'s officers, who "provided victuals for the [[Text:EBD:King|king ]] and his household." He presided, for this purpose, over the district of [[Text:EBD:Dor|Dor ]] (1 Kings 4:11).
