The term "dispensation" in Protestant theology is a distinctive arrangement or period in which the purpose of God is worked out. Many organizations and confessions recognize "dispensation" as a type of administration. The term dispensationalism though is a theological view that advocates periods (dispensations) form the framework through which God relates to mankind.
