Amillennialism is the belief that the millennial kingdom referred to in Revelation 20:1-6 is not a literal 1,000 year reign of Christ on earth, but rather represents the period that began at Christ's resurrection and will continue until his second coming.

Amillennialism is in contrast to the two alternative views of premillennailism and postmillennialism. . Premillennialism is the belief that Christ will return prior to a literal 1,000 year earthly reign and postmillennialism is the belief tha that Christ's return will follow a 1,000 year golden age ushered in by the church.
