  1. Foolish Galatians, who has bewitched you not to obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ was openly set forth among you as crucified?
  2. I just want to learn this from you. Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by hearing of faith?
  3. Are you so foolish? Having begun in the Spirit, are you now completed in the flesh?
  4. Did you suffer so many things in vain, if it is indeed in vain?
  5. He therefore who supplies the Spirit to you, and works miracles among you, does he do it by the works of the law, or by hearing of faith?
  6. Even as Abraham "believed God, and it was counted to him for righteousness."
  7. Know therefore that those who are of faith, the same are children of Abraham.
  8. The Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the Good News beforehand to Abraham, saying, "In you all the nations will be blessed."
  9. So then, those who are of faith are blessed with the faithful Abraham.
  10. For as many as are of the works of the law are under a curse. For it is written, "Cursed is everyone who doesn't continue in all things that are written in the book of the law, to do them."
  11. Now that no man is justified by the law before God is evident, for, "The righteous will live by faith."
  12. The law is not of faith, but, "The man who does them will live by them."
  13. Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us. For it is written, "Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree,"
  14. that the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Christ Jesus; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.
  15. Brothers, speaking of human terms, though it is only a man's covenant, yet when it has been confirmed, no one makes it void, or adds to it.
  16. Now the promises were spoken to Abraham and to his seed. He doesn't say, "To seeds," as of many, but as of one, "To your seed," which is Christ.
  17. Now I say this. A covenant confirmed beforehand by God in Christ, the law, which came four hundred thirty years after, does not annul, so as to make the promise of no effect.
  18. For if the inheritance is of the law, it is no more of promise; but God has granted it to Abraham by promise.
  19. What then is the law? It was added because of transgressions, until the seed should come to whom the promise has been made. It was ordained through angels by the hand of a mediator.
  20. Now a mediator is not between one, but God is one.
  21. Is the law then against the promises of God? Certainly not! For if there had been a law given which could make alive, most certainly righteousness would have been of the law.
  22. But the Scriptures imprisoned all things under sin, that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe.
  23. But before faith came, we were kept in custody under the law, confined for the faith which should afterwards be revealed.
  24. So that the law has become our tutor to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith.
  25. But now that faith has come, we are no longer under a tutor.
  26. For you are all children of God, through faith in Christ Jesus.
  27. For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ.
  28. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free man, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.
  29. If you are Christ's, then you are Abraham's seed and heirs according to promise.

  1. אהה גלטים חסרי דעת מי התעה אתכם בכשפיו משמע את האמת אחרי אשר ציר בתוככם ישוע המשיח הצלוב לנגד עיניכם׃
  2. זאת לבד חפצתי ללמד מכם האם ממעשי התורה קבלתם את הרוח או משמועת האמונה׃
  3. האתם סכלים כל כך אשר החלותם ברוח ועתה תכלו בבשר׃
  4. הכזאת סבלתם לריק אם אמנם אך לריק׃
  5. הנה המפיק לכם את הרוח ופעל בכם גבורות הכי ממעשי התורה הוא עשה אלה או משמועת האמונה׃
  6. כאשר האמין אברהם באלהים ותחשב לו לצדקה׃
  7. דעו אפוא כי בני האמונה בני אברהם המה׃
  8. והמקרא בראתו מראש כי האלהים יצדיק את הגוים מתוך האמונה קדם לבשר את אברהם לאמר ונברכו בך כל הגוים׃
  9. על כן בני האמונה יתברכו עם אברהם המאמין׃
  10. כי בני מעשי התורה תחת הקללה המה שנאמר ארור אשר לא יקים את כל הדברים הכתובים בספר התורה לעשות אותם׃
  11. וגלוי הוא כי על ידי התורה לא יצדק האדם לפני האלהים כי צדיק באמונתו יחיה׃
  12. והתורה איננה מן האמונה כי אם אשר יעשה אתם האדם וחי בהם׃
  13. המשיח פדנו מקללת התורה בהיותו לקללה בעדנו שנאמר קללת אלהים תלוי׃
  14. למען אשר תבא ברכת אברהם במשיח ישוע על הגוים למען אשר נשא את הבטחת הרוח על ידי האמונה׃
  15. אחי לפי דרך אדם אדבר אפלו דיתיקי של בן אדם אם מקימת היא לא יפרנה איש גם לא יוסיף עליה דבר׃
  16. והנה לאברהם נאמרו ההבטחות ולזרעו ולא אמר ולזרעיך כאלו לרבים אלא כאלו ליחיד ולזרעך והוא המשיח׃
  17. וזאת אני אמר כי דיתיקי אשר קימה האלהים מאז לימות המשיח לא תוכל התורה אשר באה אחרי ארבע מאות ושלשים שנה להפר אותה ולבטל את ההבטחה׃
  18. כי אם תבוא הנחלה מתוך התורה לא תבוא עוד מתוך ההבטחה אבל את אברהם חנן האלהים על ידי הבטחה׃
  19. אם כן התורה מה היא מפני הפשעים נוספה עד כי יבוא הזרע אשר לו ההבטחה ותושם התורה על ידי המלאכים וביד סרסר׃
  20. והסרסר לא של אחד הוא אך האלהים הוא אחד׃
  21. ועתה הכי התורה סתרת את הבטחות האלהים חלילה כי אלו נתנה תורה אשר בכחה להחיות אז באמת היתה הצדקה על ידי התורה׃
  22. אבל הכתוב סגר את הכל ביד החטא למען תנתן ההבטחה אל המאמינים באמונת ישוע המשיח׃
  23. לפני בוא האמונה היינו סגורים ונשמרים תחת התורה אלי האמונה העתידה להגלות׃
  24. ובכן התורה היתה אמנת אותנו אל המשיח למען נצדק על ידי האמונה׃
  25. אבל עתה אחרי אשר באה האמונה אין אנחנו עוד תחת יד האמן׃
  26. כי כלכם בני אלהים אתם על ידי האמונה במשיח ישוע׃
  27. כי כלכם אשר נטבלתם למשיח לבשתם את המשיח׃
  28. ואין עוד לא יהודי ולא יוני לא עבד ולא בן חורין לא זכר ולא נקבה כי אתם כלכם אחד במשיח ישוע׃
  29. ואם אתם למשיח הנכם זרע אברהם ונחלים כפי ההבטחה׃

  1. ω ανοητοι γαλαται τις υμας εβασκανεν οις κατ οφθαλμους ιησους χριστος προεγραφη εσταυρωμενος
  2. τουτο μονον θελω μαθειν αφ υμων εξ εργων νομου το πνευμα ελαβετε η εξ ακοης πιστεως
  3. ουτως ανοητοι εστε εναρξαμενοι πνευματι νυν σαρκι επιτελεισθε
  4. τοσαυτα επαθετε εικη ει γε και εικη
  5. ο ουν επιχορηγων υμιν το πνευμα και ενεργων δυναμεις εν υμιν εξ εργων νομου η εξ ακοης πιστεως
  6. καθως αβρααμ επιστευσεν τω θεω και ελογισθη αυτω εις δικαιοσυνην
  7. γινωσκετε αρα οτι οι εκ πιστεως ουτοι υιοι εισιν αβρααμ
  8. προιδουσα δε η γραφη οτι εκ πιστεως δικαιοι τα εθνη ο θεος προευηγγελισατο τω αβρααμ οτι ενευλογηθησονται εν σοι παντα τα εθνη
  9. ωστε οι εκ πιστεως ευλογουνται συν τω πιστω αβρααμ
  10. οσοι γαρ εξ εργων νομου εισιν υπο καταραν εισιν γεγραπται γαρ οτι επικαταρατος πας ος ουκ εμμενει πασιν τοις γεγραμμενοις εν τω βιβλιω του νομου του ποιησαι αυτα
  11. οτι δε εν νομω ουδεις δικαιουται παρα τω θεω δηλον οτι ο δικαιος εκ πιστεως ζησεται
  12. ο δε νομος ουκ εστιν εκ πιστεως αλλ ο ποιησας αυτα ζησεται εν αυτοις
  13. χριστος ημας εξηγορασεν εκ της καταρας του νομου γενομενος υπερ ημων καταρα οτι γεγραπται επικαταρατος πας ο κρεμαμενος επι ξυλου
  14. ινα εις τα εθνη η ευλογια του αβρααμ γενηται εν ινα την επαγγελιαν του πνευματος λαβωμεν δια της πιστεως
  15. αδελφοι κατα ανθρωπον λεγω ομως ανθρωπου κεκυρωμενην διαθηκην ουδεις αθετει η επιδιατασσεται
  16. τω δε αβρααμ ερρεθησαν αι επαγγελιαι και τω σπερματι αυτου ου λεγει και τοις σπερμασιν ως επι πολλων αλλ ως εφ ενος και τω σπερματι σου ος εστιν χριστος
  17. τουτο δε λεγω διαθηκην προκεκυρωμενην υπο του θεου ο μετα τετρακοσια και τριακοντα ετη γεγονως νομος ουκ ακυροι εις το καταργησαι την επαγγελιαν
  18. ει γαρ εκ νομου η κληρονομια ουκετι εξ επαγγελιας τω δε αβρααμ δι επαγγελιας κεχαρισται ο θεος
  19. τι ουν ο νομος των παραβασεων χαριν προσετεθη αχρις ελθη το σπερμα ω επηγγελται διαταγεις δι αγγελων εν χειρι μεσιτου
  20. ο δε μεσιτης ενος ουκ εστιν ο δε θεος εις εστιν
  21. ο ουν νομος κατα των επαγγελιων μη γενοιτο ει γαρ εδοθη νομος ο δυναμενος ζωοποιησαι οντως αν ην η δικαιοσυνη
  22. αλλα συνεκλεισεν η γραφη τα παντα υπο αμαρτιαν ινα η επαγγελια εκ πιστεως ιησου χριστου δοθη τοις πιστευουσιν
  23. προ του δε ελθειν την πιστιν υπο νομον εφρουρουμεθα συγκλειομενοι εις την μελλουσαν πιστιν αποκαλυφθηναι
  24. ωστε ο νομος παιδαγωγος ημων γεγονεν εις χριστον ινα εκ πιστεως δικαιωθωμεν
  25. ελθουσης δε της πιστεως ουκετι υπο παιδαγωγον εσμεν
  26. παντες γαρ υιοι θεου εστε δια της πιστεως εν χριστω ιησου
  27. οσοι γαρ εις χριστον εβαπτισθητε χριστον ενεδυσασθε
  28. ουκ ενι ιουδαιος ουδε ελλην ουκ ενι δουλος ουδε ελευθερος ουκ ενι αρσεν και θηλυ παντες γαρ υμεις εις εστε εν χριστω ιησου
  29. ει δε υμεις χριστου αρα του αβρααμ σπερμα εστε κατ επαγγελιαν κληρονομοι

  1. O insensati Galatæ, quis vos fascinavit non obedire veritati, ante quorum oculos Jesus Christus præscriptus est, in vobis crucifixus ?
  2. Hoc solum a vobis volo discere : ex operibus legis Spiritum accepistis, an ex auditu fidei ?
  3. sic stulti estis, ut cum Spiritu cœperitis, nunc carne consummemini ?
  4. tanta passi estis sine causa ? si tamen sine causa.
  5. Qui ergo tribuit vobis Spiritum, et operatur virtutes in vobis : ex operibus legis, an ex auditu fidei ?
  6. Sicut scriptum est : Abraham credidit Deo, et reputatum est illi ad justitiam :
  7. cognoscite ergo quia qui ex fide sunt, ii sunt filii Abrahæ.
  8. Providens autem Scriptura quia ex fide justificat gentes Deus, prænuntiavit Abrahæ : Quia benedicentur in te omnes gentes.
  9. Igitur qui ex fide sunt, benedicentur cum fideli Abraham.
  10. Quicumque enim ex operibus legis sunt, sub maledicto sunt. Scriptum est enim : Maledictus omnis qui non permanserit in omnibus quæ scripta sunt in libro legis ut faciat ea.
  11. Quoniam autem in lege nemo justificatur apud Deum, manifestum est : quia justus ex fide vivit.
  12. Lex autem non est ex fide, sed : Qui fecerit ea, vivet in illis.
  13. Christus nos redemit de maledicto legis, factus pro nobis maledictum : quia scriptum est : Maledictus omnis qui pendet in ligno :
  14. ut in gentibus benedictio Abrahæ fieret in Christo Jesu, ut pollicitationem Spiritus accipiamus per fidem.
  15. Fratres (secundum hominem dico) tamen hominis confirmatum testamentum nemo spernit, aut superordinat.
  16. Abrahæ dictæ sunt promissiones, et semini ejus. Non dicit : Et seminibus, quasi in multis : sed quasi in uno : Et semini tuo, qui est Christus.
  17. Hoc autem dico, testamentum confirmatum a Deo : quæ post quadringentos et triginta annos facta est lex, non irritum facit ad evacuandam promissionem.
  18. Nam si ex lege hæreditas, jam non ex promissione. Abrahæ autem per repromissionem donavit Deus.
  19. Quid igitur lex ? Propter transgressiones posita est donec veniret semen, cui promiserat, ordinata per angelos in manu mediatoris.
  20. Mediator autem unius non est : Deus autem unus est.
  21. Lex ergo adversus promissa Dei ? Absit. Si enim data esset lex, quæ posset vivificare, vere ex lege esset justitia.
  22. Sed conclusit Scriptura omnia sub peccato, ut promissio ex fide Jesu Christi daretur credentibus.
  23. Prius autem quam veniret fides, sub lege custodiebamur conclusi in eam fidem quæ revelanda erat.
  24. Itaque lex pædagogus noster fuit in Christo, ut ex fide justificemur.
  25. At ubi venit fides, jam non sumus sub pædagogo.
  26. Omnes enim filii Dei estis per fidem, quæ est in Christo Jesu.
  27. Quicumque enim in Christo baptizati estis, Christum induistis.
  28. Non est Judæus, neque Græcus : non est servus, neque liber : non est masculus, neque femina. Omnes enim vos unum estis in Christo Jesu.
  29. Si autem vos Christi, ergo semen Abrahæ estis, secundum promissionem hæredes.

  2. This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?
  3. Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?
  4. Have ye suffered so many things in vain? if it be yet in vain.
  5. He therefore that ministereth to you the Spirit, and worketh miracles among you, doeth he it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?
  6. Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.
  7. Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham.

  17. And this I say, that the covenant, that was confirmed before of God in Christ, the law, which was four hundred and thirty years after, cannot disannul, that it should make the promise of none effect.

  19. Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator.
  20. Now a mediator is not a mediator of one, but God is one.
  21. Is the law then against the promises of God? God forbid: for if there had been a law given which could have given life, verily righteousness should have been by the law.
  22. But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe.
  23. But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed.
  24. Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.
  25. But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.
  26. For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.
  27. For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.
  28. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.
  29. And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.
