''Synopsis:'' The doctrine of justification by faith plus works is the teaching that a person is saved by both his good works and also faith in Jesus Christ's atoning death. This is taught in the Roman Catholic, and Eastern Orthodox Churches. This issue was one of the main issues causing the [[Reformation]]. Protestant churches today teach that a person is saved by faith in Christ alone.
