It is one of the four [[Gospels]], containing an acccount of the birth of [[Jesus]], his ministry and his death and resurrection. It closes with Jesus' [[Great Commission]], where he called his disciples to "go and make disciples of all nations."
The book is traditionally thought to be authored by [[apostle Matthew]], one of Jesus' twelve disciples.
