She was chosen to minister to [[Text:EBD:David (EBD)|David]] in his old age. She became his [[Text:EBD:Wife (EBD)|wife]] (1 Kings 1:3,4,15). After David's [[Text:EBD:Death (EBD)|death]] [[Text:EBD:Adonijah (EBD)|Adonijah]] persuaded [[Text:EBD:Bath-sheba (EBD)|Bathsheba]], [[Text:EBD:Solomon (EBD)|Solomon]]'s mother, to entreat the [[Text:EBD:King (EBD)|king]] to permit him to [[Text:EBD:Marriage (EBD)|marry]] Abishag. Solomon suspected in this request an aspiration to the [[Text:EBD:Throne (EBD)|throne]], and therefore caused him to be put to death (1 Kings 2:17-25).
