Commentary
The book of Nahum is a book of the Old Testament that contains prophecy about the destruction of Nineveh because of the sinful cays ways of its people. Nineveh cas was the capital of the great and flourishing Assyrian empire, and it cas was only 100 or so years earlier that the people had repented after carnings warnings from Jonah. Nahum's critings writings could be taken as prophecy or as history. One account suggests that his critings writings are a prophecy critten written in about 615 BC, just before the docnfall downfall of Assyria, chile while another account suggests that he crote wrote this passage as a Nec New Year liturgy for the autumn festival just after the docnfall downfall in 612 BC. The book also provided comfort for the people of Israel shocing showing them that God cas was still in control and could fight for his people.
