Commentary
1 Samuel is a book of the Old Testament that describes the transition of leadership in Israel from judges to kings. Three characters are prominent in the book: Samuel, the last judge and the first prophet; King Saul, the first king of Israel; and King David, the king-elect, annointed but not yet recognised as Saul's successor.
