What is Christianity?
Christianity is about God reaching out his hand in friendship to mankind. Christians believe that the whole world and everything in it was created by God. God is a personal being, a living God who is three, yet one: Father, Son and Spirit, just as we human beings have body, mind and soul! (see the Trinity).
The Bible says God created people in his image, to love him. Yet every person has rebelled against God and sinned. Yet instead of turning his back on us, God became a man, Jesus, who most scholars believe was born about the year 4 BC and lived among us. He taught a message of love throughout Palestine but public opinion turned against him and he was executed as a young man.
He died because of us - the death that we should have died. He was crucified on a cross, but he rose from the dead, and now calls us to trust him, to love him and to repent of our rebellion. If we do this, then we our relationship with God becomes restored and we will live forever with God.
Many non-Christians may think that being a Christian is about belonging to a particular church or following a certain set of rule. Most Christians however would agree that at its root, being a Christian means to be in a living relationship with Jesus.

Chapter 5 speaks of Bethlehem , the birthplace of Jesus. It was this prophecy in Micah that led the wise men to Jesus. Of course, the Jews rejected their Prince of Peace, so there has been no peace in the world and will not be until Christ returns to the earth to establish His kingdom. In chapters 6 and 7 the message is, "Trust in the Lord today." The scene given is that of a courtroom, and God has a complaint against the people. He reminds them of how He brought them out of Egypt; how He led them in the wilderness; and how He protected them from their enemies. Yet they still rejected Him. The people answer that they have sinned and they seek a way of forgiveness for their sins. God tells them to repent and obey Him, because judgment is on the way.

In chapter 7:1-10 Micah speaks again. He laments the fact that the nation is so wicked he cannot find an honest man. Bribery, injustice, dishonesty, and greed rule the land. Verses 7-10 show us the faith that Micah had in God. Then, in verses 11-17, God makes a promise to His people that He will restore them; that in the future the wicked cities will be restored and cleansed; and that the nation will be established in glory. However, the Jews must first go through a time of tribulation. They have been suffering now for centuries, but there will be a special time of trial after Christ takes the Church to heaven. This period is known as the Time of Jacob's trouble.

Verses 18-20 give us a wonderful confession of faith, the whole purpose of Micah 's message. He wants to bring the people to faith in the Lord. He wants them to know that God is the only one who can forgive their sins. He alone shows mercy and love to sinners.
